1. Counting Korean Words

Question: I have a document written in Korean. According to your "Rates" page, a Korean page full of texts usually translates to about 200 - 350 English words, which I can use for cost estimation. But I still want to know roughly how many words each page has. What are the units (clusters) I see in Korean texts? Are they words?

Answer: Each of the units or "clusters" you see in a Korean text is a syllable. A number of syllables combine to form a word. In the example shown, the Korean sentence has 4 words (and 13 syllables). Note that the English translation of this sentence has 8 words. This type of expansion occurs when Korean is translated into English, because Korean is much "denser" in meaning.

2. Rate Ranges

Question: I can’t determine the precise cost of translating my document, because your rate table shows a range of prices even for a single category. How can I figure out the cost?

Answer: For a precise cost, the best way is to show us your document. We can only present the rates in ranges, because many factors influence the efforts needed for translating a document. These include the technicality of the content, writing style and clarity of the original text and the degree of formatting involved, etc.

3. Documents with Diagrams

Question: My document has diagrams, and I want the translation product to look exactly like the original. How do you handle diagrams?

Answer: Diagrams can be handled in several different ways, depending on the format of the original document.

Format of the Original Document	What We Will Do	Appearance of the Diagram in the Product File
- MS Word (.doc, .docx files) - PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx files) - PDF (text accessible)	We will transpose the diagram to the translation file, with words translated as necessary.	The resolution (crispness) is maintained. As an English translation tends to have a wider width than the Korean counterpart, some translated words may be written in smaller font sizes.
- PDF (scanned image) - Printout (hard copy)	We will crop out the diagram from the original and transpose it to the product file. If it contains words to be translated, we will “chisel" them out using graphics software and insert translated words in the space.	The diagram will show the grainy background of the original, and the resolution may become lower. The inserted translations may look conspicuous to some extent, because the insertion areas may differ in font size and background shade from the rest of the document.

4. Credit Card Payment

Question: Do you accept credit cards?

Answer: Yes, we accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express & Discover) and PayPal.
